A Stroudsburg Man is Apprehended by a Stun Gun after Fleeing from State Trooper

A Stroudsburg man found himself being apprehended by a police stun gun after he fled from a state trooper when he was questioned about his invalid license plate.

The 34-year-old man in question was at a station in the afternoon when a trooper asked for his driver’s licence. Instead of complying with police orders he decided to run into the woods.

Even though the trooper ordered the man to stop on a number of occasions, he refused to listen to the orders. Eventually, he decided to slow down claiming that he was giving himself up, but when he was told to lie on his stomach, he ran off a second time.

As a result, the state trooper employed his self defense device which subsequently apprehended the man enabling the trooper to arrest him without further problems.

Nowadays, all types of police personnel will have a form of self defense on their person. Since the creation of the devices, police departments have realized the benefits of owning such tools. As a result, officers now have an extended array of non-lethal weapons on hand to assist them should they require it.

It also means that they won’t be required to employ brute force in order to get a suspect to comply with police orders. After all, brute force is likely to mean that contact is required between the people involved, which could consequently mean that someone ends up getting hurt.

In order to avoid the likelihood of injuries, police departments are providing their officers with stun guns, so that they don’t have to come into contact with a suspect. This then means that no one receives any injuries and doesn’t have to spend time recovering in hospital as a result.

More police on the streets essentially means more time spent tackling crime in the most time efficient and effective way possible.

It’s a win-win situation for all those involved, as it cuts out the hospital time, which would be needed if another form of defense was employed to apprehend a suspect instead. The state trooper in this instance was able to effectively bring the 34-year-old suspect into police custody without coming into contact with him after his assistance from his stun gun. Such an event may have been extended if such a tool was not available.
