Shanghai Women Protect themselves against Subway Threats with Stun Guns

This summer has seen a rise in the number of self defense devices being bought by women in Shanghai as a way of increasing their protection.

In China, one store has seen over 970 stunning devices sold in the past month. In most cases, the people buying the self defense tools were women who wanted an effective tool to protect them against sexual harassment.

It also allows women to have a form of defense on hand when they are travelling on public transport or where it may be hard to get assistance, such as on the subway. Of course, while many think that shouting is the best way forward to preventing or stopping someone from attacking a female, many also believe this is not the best route.

After all, in some cases the attacker may have hit the woman in question, which doesn’t give her time to shout for help. Others believe that carriages specially for women only are the best solution, even though an official with the Shanghai Metro Operation Company explained that they have no plans to implement carriages that are exclusively for women only.

The only measures in place are announcements that remind passengers of their behavior.

Of course, while these measures may be sufficient in most cases, what about when a woman is travelling by herself late at night in a carriage that is not crowded, but still poses a risk to her safety?

It’s important for women to consider the risks involved and to introduce measures that will see their safety is not in any harm from an unwanted predator. Womens stun guns are widely available for women and provide the necessary protection that they are after.
