Police Investigate Home Break-Ins
For one homeowner, she returned home to find that her back window had been broken. Aiming straight for the master bedroom, the thieves went straight for the gold. In total, it is expected that the thieves took around $2,000.
According to Louisville Metro Police, there were around five home break-ins in the Fern Creek area over the past month. In each case that was reported, the burglars gained access through a back door or window.
While the police explain that they rarely have issues in the area, police have noticed that the thieves targeted the homes when people were at work. In most cases, the thieves broke in to steal jewelry before fleeing.
The main advice that is being delivered to residents is to hide anything of sentimental value from sight. Metro Police are suggesting that residents take the necessary measures to protect themselves by installing a good security alarm system and dead bolt locks.
