Police Employ TASER on Man Who Kidnapped and Threatened to Kill Portland Boy
Police responded to a call around 9 p.m. where they found a 43-year-old male suspect with his arm around the neck of a 12-year-old boy. Prior to police arriving, the suspect took the boy out of his truck. He was also employing a grapefruit-sized rock as a weapon.
According to the police, when police confronted the man he used the boy as a shield and threatened to kill the boy.
Police initially gave verbal commands to the man, while two officers approached the suspect from his blind side. As a result, they then employed the self defense device on the man. When the suspect’s grip loosened the 12-year-old was able to escape while police took the 43-year-old into police custody.
Before the incident, the 43-year-old entered a home in the same area with a rock and attempted to grab a girl. The incident came to a close when the suspect pushed another person in the household and walked out.
It is believed that the 43-year-old took these steps so that he would be killed by police, what is also known as suicide by cop.
Of course, in this day and age police are no longer simply employing firearms while on duty. In most cases they are frequently turning their attention to self defense stunning tools, which have the ability to apprehend a suspect, but don’t do any harm in the process of subduing them.
Police departments are realizing the importance of equipping their officers with an array of self defense tools for added safety, not just for them, but also for others involved. When it comes to a situation such as a kidnapping, it is important that police have a device on hand that they can rely on that will produce the maximum results they are after without bringing harm to the innocent person involved.
If a firearm was employed more harm would only come out of it, which is why TASER x26c devices are regularly relied upon for added safety. Not only that, but it ensures the safety of the kidnap victim as well.
