Police Apprehend Pocketbook Thief with Stun Gun

According to police, they arrested a 24-year-old male from Westhampton Beach and a 37-year-old female from Riverhead after stealing a pocketbook went wrong.

In the early hours of the morning, police responded to a call relating to a stolen pocketbook. When they arrived on scene, they found one female and one male arguing. Police initially interviewed the two found at the scene, which saw the 37-year-old female state that she had found the missing bag by the road. However, upon further inspection it was soon discovered that a checkbook in the pocketbook was missing.

The checkbook was later discovered in the female’s car.

During the incident the 24-year-old male decided to flee the scene. However, police were able to locate him on the grounds of the Westhampton Auto Wash not far from the scene. When he resisted arrest, police them employed the self defense stun gun on him. Police were also able to locate a baggie of cocaine as it fell out of the man’s pocket.

In today’s society, it seems as those the numbers of robbery are going up. As a result, more police time is being spent on tackling crime numbers that is proving to be anything, but easy. However, when police do confront suspects of burglary or robbery it is important that they have a form of defense on hand that they can rely upon.

Nowadays, police are relying upon self defense tools where it is possible for them to effectively bring about justice in a timely manner. Without the assistance from such a device it would be unlikely for them to see a reduction in crime figures without employing brute force, which brings the risk of harm to the officer and suspect involved.

In order to eliminate the risk of injury a self defense tool that has enough power to subdue a person is required. A stun gun fits this description; however, it doesn’t come with the risk of injury unlike that of a traditional firearm.
