Police Increase Patrols due to Break-Ins
Since March 1, it is believed that around 101 car burglaries and nine home burglaries have been reported. Even though those numbers are unofficial, it does state how bad burglaries are becoming with vehicles.
Milburn is one area that is experiencing similar problems and it is working with police departments to tackle the problem and make arrests. While arrests have been made in Milburn and other regions in the last few months, the break-ins continue.
As a result of the rise, police departments are increasing their patrols. Despite the fact that the police haven’t disclosed what they are doing, in a bid to prevent the bad guys from knowing their plans, they have issued a statement to residents to let them know that they are taking the incidents seriously.
In 99 percent of the car break-ins and auto thefts the doors were unlocked and the keys were left inside, making it a simple job for a would-be thief.
In most cases, residents still believe that they don’t need to lock their car doors because they don’t think that car break-ins can happen where they live. However, it is clear from the numbers that such things do and as a result, residents need to become more aware of the risks involved by locking up their car doors and windows and removing the keys.
In the last few months, police have encouraged residents to also lock their home windows and doors as well to prevent home burglaries, but reports keep coming in. To tackle the issue of car and home theft it is necessary for the public to help.
One way that homeowners and car owners can increase their safety is through the assistance from Mace spray. This is a non-lethal form of defense that has the ability to apprehend a suspect in a matter of seconds. As it is not harmful it has become a popular self defense device for people to have on hand. Not only that, but because it is small enough to carry around it provides a person protection day or night wherever they are.
