Bike Thief is Apprehended by Police Stun Gun
The Lawrence Police Department were dispatched to the Walmart after they received a report of a man resisting loss prevention officers who were at the store. The 52-year-old had been seen leaving the shop with a bicycle that he had stolen from inside.
Loss prevention officers said that they had spotted the man on surveillance cameras eating a bag of potato chips and drinking beer in the back break room before he took the bike and rode it out of the store.
After police arrived, they saw the man in question riding the bike as loss prevention officers chased him. While the officer attempted to employ his police car to block the man it proved unsuccessful.
As the man continued to head towards Pendleton Pike, the officer then decided to chase the suspect on foot. As the man rode into on-coming traffic, he forced other vehicles to stop abruptly and serve around him.
After issuing verbal demands for him to stop, which the suspect failed to comply with, he was then apprehended with a police stun gun in the back.
Nowadays, it seems as though people will go out of their way to steal something of value in the hope that they won’t get caught and can possibly sell it on for quick money.
In this instance, how a man thought that he could simply ride out of Walmart on a bike without being spotted is not known. Somehow he was under the misapprehension that he could and as a result attempted such a feat that quickly proved him wrong.
However, with the help from a police self defense device the 52-year-old was soon apprehended and arrested, while the bike was safely returned to the store.
In order to hold on to what is rightfully yours, it is important to implement measures that will enable this. Owning a self defense device of some sort will make sure that you are able to protect yourself if you are confronted by an individual who has decided that they want what you have.
