Police Employ Stun Gun on Man Who Attempted Suicide

A man who once stole money while he was the vice president of the N.C. Transportation Museum Foundation, was in a critical condition after he attempted to kill himself.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, the man in question had grabbed a gun and pulled the trigger after police employed a stun gun on him. The police chief explains that if it had not been for the stunning device and appropriate action had not been taken out when required, the man may have succeeded in taking his own life.

Even though police are not sure why the man decided to kill itself, what is known is that over the past ten years he had lost a number of high-profile jobs after his employers found out that he had embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from them.

In 2000, he stole money from Ben Long, a well-known fresco artist from North Carolina. Ben Long claimed that he stole over $800,000.

He was then fired from his job as president of the Minnesota-based Lingbergh Foundation after officials of the foundation realized that he had misused $600,000. He later paid this money back from funds he had stolen from the N.C. Transportation Museum Foundation.

He was asked to step down from his role as vice president of the foundation. The money used to pay the Lindbergh Foundation was returned to the Transportation Museum who were later paid $613,000 through the suspect’s attorney.

The 50-year-old man had given a note to his neighbor. Once the note had been read the neighbor became concerned that he would harm himself. Aware that something was not right, the neighbor decided to phone police.

At around 10.30 a.m., police arrived at the man’s house where they found him armed with a shotgun, which he turned to himself. Officers at once began to talk to him in order to get him to lower the weapon and hand it over.

After 30 minutes of talking he appeared to calm himself down and even removed the handgun from his hand.

In situations such as this it is important to have a device on hand that will produce the effective results needed. Without such a tool the chances of increased risk are higher, but with the help from a stun gun those risk are significantly reduced.
