Their main objective is to get the residents and the public of the Swan Valley to visit the people who work with bears in order to receive vital information about living in bear country.

The Bear Fair also helps residents to learn how to handle bear situations and what attracts them.

The most common tasty household treats included dog food, garbage, and bird seed. However, homeownes need to realize the importance of containing these products to prevent bears from straying on to their property. It doesn’t take long for one bear to become dependent on household food from one home, which can then turn the bear into a nuisance bear that poses an even greater risk to those nearby.

Demonstrations at the Bear Fair will also show residents how to effectively employ bear spray to defend themselves against a bear attack. While firearms are often relied upon by those who own them, the employment of the self defense spray canister has a greater impact on bears. With the bears incredible sense of smell, which is seven times stronger than a bloodhound, they will instantly be affected once the spray has been employed.
