Rampaging Kangaroo Battles 94-Year-Old Woman
At the time of the incident she reports seeing a blur of red before the animal knocked her down and kicked her as she was on the ground. Somehow she was able to get back on her feet where she was able to grab a broom and hit the animal enough times to daze it.
With the help from the family dog the lady was able to get to safety before police were called to the scene to assist. As a result of the animal attack the lady sustained a large gash on her leg, but was recovering in hospital.
The first officer to arrive on the scene had to employ pepper spray on the animal in order to subdue it and prevent the animal from harming those around it. After being sprayed the animal jumped back, however, after spotting another officer the kangaroo went for him. Luckily, he also had a canister of self defense spray and was able to employ it in time.
After being sprayed twice the animal then hopped away, but was still close enough for police to monitor it. Wildlife rangers from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service were later able to trap the animal.
In most cases, kanagroos rarely attack humans and this was the first incident where police were required to employ pepper spray on an animal. Thankfully because of its powerful components it was able to subdue the animal enough to prevent it from continuing on with its rampage.
Even though this was the first time the spray canister had been employed on a wildlife animal it is good to know that such a device can be employed if required. Such a device is particularly useful as it prevents harm coming to the animal and any unnecessary killing.
It was later found that the kangaroo, an adopted animal, had escaped from where it was which consequently ended with it attacking a 94-year-old woman in her own backyard.
