Police Employ Stun Gun on Man Who Resists Arrest
The 49-year-old had initially been released after a hearing the previous week. However, a call was reported to police about a domestic dispute involving the man. After arriving at the address they learnt that the suspect had violated a protection order. The court had ordered the 49-year-old to stay away from a child who was residing at the address.
While police were talking to people, the man drove past slowly in a vehicle. Police told him to pull over, which he did. But, when he was informed that he had breached a protection order and was going to be arrested as a result, he soon became agitated, kicked his shoes off and began to argue with police.
A police officer then ordered the man to place his hands behind his back, which he failed to comply to do so. When the officer grabbed the man’s wrist, he slapped the officer’s hand. He then proceeded to run around his vehicle between two houses, heading for railroad tracks.
It was then that the officer took out his self defense stun gun. The officer ordered the man on the ground, but when he failed to comply and began walking backwards the officer used the device on the man in order to arrest him and bring him back into police custody.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find police with an array of self defense devices on them while on duty. By having them available, they are able to effectively use a device depending on the situation to bring about the best results possible.
When it comes to the use of a firearm this wouldn’t be possible as police can’t be sure that innocent people involved won’t be harmed as a result from a straying bullet. With the use from a stun gun though they can be sure that the person they are targeting is the person who will be targeted in a short space of time.
As a result of this, that means less police and public injury and more time for people to tackle crime on the streets with a device that they can be confident in. In order for police to do their jobs effectively they need to have a device they can rely on that will protect those concerned.
