Police Focus on Home Burglaries in Illinois

Police departments in Tazewell and Woodford counties are coming together to put together important information they believe will bring the end of home burglaries in what are considered upscale neighborhoods. In these areas, many of the homeowners have left their guards down, which has resulted in them becoming victims of home burglaries.

Over the past couple of weeks, thieves have gained entry to around two dozen vehicles, homes and garages that have been unlocked from Pekin to Metamora. These are the criminals that police want to find. In the mean time, they are urging homeowners to rethink the safety measures they have in place and to stop being complacent when it comes to their home protection.

In many cases, people like to think that they don’t need to lock their garages and doors, but unfortunately they do, regardless of where they are, even if that’s in rural and isolated areas. It is these areas that are experiencing a rise in burglaries. As they are away from busy streets, the only means of safety they have is through porch lights; however, the homes remain largely unlit throughout the night.
