Suspect Subdued with Police TASER Gun at County Jail

A man who was being booked into Seneca County Jail on Sunday was subdued by a police TASER gun.

The 21-year-old male was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and driving a vehicle while intoxicated, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.140, according to police reports.

Police initially received a report of a vehicle on the side of the road in the early hours of the morning. When they went to investigate they found the man in question slumped over the driver’s seat into the passenger seat. Both the driver and the seat were covered in vomit.

As a result, police then arrested the man who was taken to Seneca County Jail.

While there the 21-year-old refused to listen to the corrections’ officers orders. It was when they escorted him to a holding cell that the man began to threaten them and scream profanities. Police say that the man jerked away, spun around and took up a defensive stance. Because of this a police TASER gun was employed on the man.

He was then evaluated and cleared by medical staff at the jail.

Even though assault on police officers’ often happens outside of a jail, it can also take place inside as well. For this reason it is necessary for police to have a protective device on them that they can rely on at all times regardless of where they are.
