Mother Bear Attacks Man in Vancouver Suburb
According to residents reports, the black bear and her three cubs have been spotted in the village for the past two to three weeks. Many believe she was in the village to search for food as the salmon-berry season is over and the blackberry season hasn’t started yet.
The attack, which occurred just after 7 a.m., took place in a small Vancouver community of Anmore, which is also a popular area. At the time, the man who was attacked was walking his dog when he spotted the mother bear and its three cubs.
As the man and his dog walked over the hill, the mother bear spotted them, making a beeline straight towards them. While the man tried to dive down a small embankment, the bear was able to reach him in a matter seconds.
Nudging the dog aside, the bear went straight for the man clawing him on the right arm as she stood over him.
Not knowing what the bear was going to do, the man waited for the bear’s next move, fearing the worst. However, instant of killing the man, or seriously injuring him, the bear walked away, glancing every few seconds back at where he was.
Escaping from the mauling of the bear, the man was able to get up and taking his dog flagged down a neighbor for help.
Nowadays, it is important for residents to have a form of protection on them when it comes to preventing bear attacks. Even though bear attacks are a rare occurrence on humans they do occur. This is why it’s important for measures to be put into place that will ensure the safety of hikers or those who reside in areas that are frequented by bears.
No one wants to be attacked by a bear, but simply knowing that you have a form of defense on hand will mean that you are better prepared to defend yourself when the moment calls for it.
