Father and Daughter Eaten Alive by Bear and Cubs in Russia
The 19-year-old girl, from a village in far eastern Siberia, rang her mother on her cell phone where she delivered an hour-long commentary of her own death. She witnessed the bear attack her stepfather as they were fishing, before fleeing.
However, the mother bear chased her for 70 yards, before finally catching her by the leg. Several times during the attack the girl managed to call her mother.
Her mother initially thought that she was joking, and it was only when she heard the bear growling in the background that she realized the seriousness of the situation. The girl called her mother explaining how much pain she was in. It was only an hour later when she made her last call that she said there was no pain and it didn’t hurt anymore. Asking her mother for forgiveness she told her she loved her before the call ended.
Her distraught mother called the police, who arrived at the scene 30 minutes later with six hunters who were ordered to destroy the bears. When the hunters arrived they found the bears still feeding on her husband’s body.
In Russia bears attacks are on the rise as the hungry animals search for food in locations where humans have moved into their territory. As a result of this it raises the chances of bear-to-human confrontations.
When travelling in areas that are known to home bears it’s important that measures are put into place to ensure the safety and well-being of those so that bear attacks can be avoided. Bear spray is an effective self defense device to have on hand as it is easy to carry and safe to employ.
Of course, when it comes to employing bear spray it is vital that the device itself is kept close by for immediate action should you require it. While no one wants to be attacked by a bear, simply knowing that you have a device on hand will mean that you are ready for such an attack to take place. It will greatly increase your chances of escaping unharmed if you have a powerful device on hand.
