Police Warn Residents of Recent Home Burglaries

Port St. Lucie police are urging residents to remain on high alert after around 24 homes were burglarized in the past week.

According to police there has been a number of home burglaries reported since Saturday, while six of those reported took place on Wednesday within a half-mile radius of each other. Most of the burglaries saw the thief or thieves gain entry through windows or front doors.

One resident whose home was targeted reported hearing a knock on her front door and her doorbell ringing, but when she went to answer the door nobody was there. Shortly afterward, the lady walked into her kitchen to find a man in her garden walking toward her glass doors. However, when the man saw her, he yelled before running off.

The other victims targeted have reported jewelry, guns, cash and electronics as being the items stolen.
