Parents of Criminals to be Named and Shamed
The councillor has spoken out after homes in his district of Bennetts End, Hemel Hempstead, were ransacked by three teenagers. The teenagers themselves can’t be named due to legal reasons.
Because their identity has to be protected, the councillor is arguing that the parents should then be named and shamed.
Earlier this month the three teenage males, one of whom was only 13 at the time the offences were committed, were put behind bars after they raided 31 homes during a month-long spree. Police have called for their names to be revealed, going so far as to request an order that has banned their identities being revealed, be lifted by the court judge.
Surprisingly, the officers were told that the case was not considered serious enough for such a request to be granted. As a result, the councillor has put his weight behind the request to see the boys, who targeted those within their own communities, to be named and shamed.
The three teenagers involved are aged between 14-and-17-years-old. All of them pleaded guilty to the offences. During one of the raids, a woman in her 70s woke to discover the three youths in her room.
Items stolen included jewelry, laptops, mobile phones, and other electrical items, all of which amounted to £9,000.
In order for homeowners to ensure their safety and to prevent home burglaries from taking place in their homes and communities, they should implement safety measures. These may include installing a security alarm and motion light, which will instantly detect someones presence.
Another measure to think about is a TASER gun. This self defense tool is the ideal alternative to lethal force and has become the perfect protective device for homeowners to have inside, should they find themselves confronted with an intruder in their home.
