Police Employ TASER Gun on Threatening Man with a Plank
According to the police report, the officer stopped around 12.14 a.m. on Monday to investigate a fight between two men. As the officer made the approach to the two men, one of them grabbed a wooden board. When the officer issued a command to the man, he refused to listen, ran up a driveway and subsequently swung the board in the officer’s direction. He then dropped it before running behind a building.
The officer fired the self defense device twice, but missed the man who ran into a back yard. The officer ordered him on the ground, which he refused and as a result the officer fired the TASER gun again, this time hitting the man in the chest.
Once he was apprehended he was then taken into police custody without any further incident. Even though the officer was threatened with a plank he was able to successfully bring the situation under control in a timely manner, thus preventing any further harm coming to the officer or to the man.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find officers equipped with various self defense tools that enable them to do their jobs effectively when it comes to tackling violent individuals. With the help from them they can rest assured that the tools they are using are non-lethal.
Even though they still pack a punch when they are deployed the risk factor involved is eliminated. This means that officers can bring their suspects into police custody without any injury being incurred.
In today’s society it is important for police departments and members of the public to think about their safety and how they can further boost it in a non-lethal manner. The only way this is possible is with the help from a device that has been designed with safety in mind. A device that is powerful enough to stop a person in their tracks long enough for the person to make their escape or for officers to make an arrest.
The only such tool, that many are turning to, is a TASER gun. Reducing contact made between a suspect and an officer means that the harm factor is eliminated, which in turn means that police are more able to effectively do their jobs as police officers by tackling the crime that blights the communities and spirit throughout our neighborhoods.
