Newbridge Hit by Burglaries

Thieves have gone on a spree in Newbridge after several premises were targeted.

The Newbridge sports center on Station road was broken into at 4.15 a.m. on Sunday morning, which saw the burglars stealing a small amount of money from the cash register. On the same night, between the hours of 12 midnight and 9.30 a.m. on Sunday morning, a barber’s shop was broken into through the roof where money was stolen. While a second building was also broken into in the same area and also accessed through the roof, nothing was taken.

Another building was targeted at 3.30 a.m. on Sunday morning, which thieves gained entry after employing a brick to smash the glass in the front door. As a result, two men were caught on camera pulling the tills open; however, they were seen leaving without anything, as no money was left on the premises.

Newbridge police in Ireland are also investigating two thefts from cars in the area. According to a homeowner, she saw two men cycling away from her home at 4.10 a.m. only to discover in the morning that the window of her car had been broken into. Items including a black leather handbag were taken from it.

Two bikes were also stolen from a garage after the lock on the shed was broken, while a menswear store that was targeted saw ten men’s suits stolen, as well as a Toshiba mini notebook laptop and a Seiko watch.

In a house burglary, jewelry was the target for the thieves who broke into a home between 12 noon and 3.15 p.m. Once inside they stole gold chains, a while pearl necklace and rings.
