Home Burglaries on the Rise
In both of the incidents, the homeowners returned home to find the thieves still inside. As a result, an elderly victim received injuries in a scuffle with suspects.
The Columbus Police Department has also seen a rise in break-ins, with a 50 percent increase in vehicle break-ins across the city. The rise is partly being blamed on the state of the economy.
The thieves involved in the car break-ins are seeing crooks stealing parts and selling them off. In most of these cases, the thieves are targeting parking lots of businesses and residential areas.
Of course, in order to prevent break-ins from happening to motorists cars they should make sure that they remove any valuables from their vehicles, making sure that they are locked. They should also avoid keeping the engines running when the vehicle is unoccupied.
With regards to the home burglaries, there are ways in which homeowners can prevent their homes from being targeted. One way is to make sure that they have a good security alarm system in place. This is the first step to deterring a would-be thief as it is easily visible.
Another step to consider is the purchase of a stun baton. Nowadays, homeowners are turning their attention to these self defense devices as a way of ensuring their safety when they need it the most.
No one wants their home to become a target of a burglary, which is why it’s important for safety measures to be put into place. While a good security alarm is the best first step to make for outside protection, homeowners should also consider their indoor protection as well.
The only way they can achieve this is with a self defense device that has been designed with providing maximum safety to the user in question. Only then can homeowners rest assured that should they be faced with an intruder inside their home that they can effectively protect themselves.
