Man Is Apprehended with TASER After Police Struggle

A police TASER was employed to apprehend a man after he struggled with a White Lake police officer on Monday at 7.55 p.m. on La Grande Boulevard located near Sycamore Drive in Cedarbrook Estates.

According to the police report, a vehicle was stopped for a seat belt violation. The report goes on to explain that the officer identified the driver and recognized the passenger in the car.

The police officer asked for the passenger’s name, which the passenger is reported to have given a name that the officer knew to be false. At that point the officer then asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle.

The passenger also had a felony warrant out for his arrest due to a violation of his probation.

When the officer tried to arrest the man, the man subsequently began to struggle with the officer. As a result, the two went down on the ground, at which point the officer then employed his self defense TASER device on the passenger.

After the device was deployed the officer was then able to arrest the man without further incident.

In this situation the use of the police device proved essential in bringing a situation to a close without any further incident taking place. These days police departments are realizing the benefits of providing their officers with these weapons namely because they are non-lethal, but are still powerful enough to stop a suspect from committing an offense and getting away.
