Police Ask for Public Help in Relation to Two Sexual Assault Cases

In Washington a woman was attacked by a stranger in the dark.

Twice it has happened in the same Prince George’s County neighborhood in the last two weeks. As a result, the police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the person, or persons, involved.

On Wednesday, Prince George’s County police knocked on residents homes and entered businesses to hand out fliers about the two incidents.

The first incident is reported to have taken place on September 6. A woman was walking home from work around midnight when she was grabbed behind and inappropriately touched by a stranger. She was, however, able to break free.

On September 16, another woman was attacked around 10 p.m. by a man that she didn’t know. The suspect is reported to have grabbed her and taken her into the woods where she was sexually assaulted.

Police are not sure if the same person is responsible for both of the attacks, but according to police, this type of attack is unusual in the neighborhood as there are so many people in the area who look out for each other.

Of course, while this type of attack may be unusual that doesn’t mean that women should be any less aware of what is going on around them, particularly if they are walking home from work late at night alone.
