Two Arrested in Connection with Home Burglaries

Las Cruces police have arrested two men believed to be responsible for at least four home burglaries that were committed on Thursday.

A 27-year-old male and a 22-year-old male were charged with four counts each of conspiracy to commit home burglary and four counts of residential burglary. The 27-year-old suspect was also found to be in violation of his probation.

Police responded to reports of home burglaries on Thursday morning. A witness to one of the burglaries was able to give police a description of the suspects and told officers what car the thieves were driving. Shortly after, an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description and undertook a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 70.

The 27-year-old is alleged to have been driving while the 22-year-old suspect was his passenger. Police were able to identify the two as the two involved in the burglaries and were subsequently taken into police custody.

Nowadays, with the economy still in a bad shape after the banking crisis, there are many people turning to crime in order to make quick money from stolen goods. In order to achieve this they are targeting homes they believe are vulnerable where they can gain access easily and where they can take what they want.

Unfortunately, there are still many of us who are in a mind that we can simply leave our windows or doors unlocked without fearing the repercussions of doing so. It doesn’t take long for a thief to take what they deem valuable once they have entered a person’s home uninvited.

One way that people are doing this is through the installation of a good security alarm system. An outside deterrent is important in today’s society, however, if you don’t have a security alarm system in place, it is still worthwhile to consider how you can protect yourself should you be at home when a burglary takes place.

In order to achieve this people are turning their attention to pepper spray as the ideal alternative to self defense compared to other devices. As it is non-lethal it doesn’t harm those it is targeted towards, but instantly gets to work once deployed.

Not only that, but because it’s a spray it can target more than one person at any given time thus increasing a homeowner’s safety if they should find themselves confronted with more than one burglar in their home.
