Initially, she believed that her llama was wrestling with another llama as they make the same noise.
The owner of ten llamas on a small farm that she shares with her mother, she then went outside to investigate the noise. When she was outside she found herself between her llama and the bear.
Her llama was in the vegetable garden located next to his pasture and a dark shape was biting his head. Screaming at the bear the bear then ran away and the llama owner thought that was the end of it believing that they are more afraid of people.
Returning back inside she dialed 911 and then went back outside to get her 12-year-old llama, but when she returned the bear was back chasing her llama in the front yard.
She then grabbed her llama and turned to face the approaching bear yelling at him. As the bear retreated, she saw a police cruiser’s flashing lights in the darkness. When they arrived they noticed she was covered in blood thinking it was hers.
After explaining that it her llamas and that she was fine she then pulled her llama into a garage as the police went around the side of the house. She could hear the bear attack police, quickly followed by gun shots.
Nowadays, with the increase of bear attacks being reported it is important for measures to be put into place for the safety of owners who live near or travel in areas that home bears.
One way of doing this is with the assistance from bear spray. This self defense device has become the ideal alternative to a firearm as it will instantly work on the targeted bear without the fear of harming it in the process. After all, an angry bear that has been shot, but not killed will ultimately be far worse than an angry bear.
Simply knowing that a self defense spray canister is on hand will give the individual using it the confidence to protect themselves compared to not having any protection on them at all.
