Police Warn Residents of Sneak-In Home Burglaries

South Yorkshire Police are reminding residents across the Dearne Valley to lock their windows and doors to avoid them becoming a victim of a sneak-in burglary.

According to police, if doors and windows are left unlocked, criminals on the lookout for an opportunity can easily slip in and out of a person’s home, taking personal possessions and valuables.

The police say that a third of all home burglaries that take place in Doncaster are simply down to the fact that properties are insecure and could have been prevented if protective measures were in place.

In most cases, it only take a few seconds for thieves to gain access into a property before they take valuables if the windows and doors are left insecure. While police are doing all they can to prevent burglaries from taking place in Doncaster, it is important for the public to help as well.
