Slow Speed Chase Ends with Police TASER Gun
The need for pulling over the driver was down to the fact that the bus driver had deliberately crashed into the rear of a patrol car before continuing on its journey. A second police car then pursued the bus which was travelling around 10km/h.
A third police vehicle pulled up next to the bus, but the driver was reported to have swerved and crashed the bus into the patrol vehicle.
Police then watched in amazement as the driver left his seat, walked to the back of the bus where he was seen gesturing at police from the back window. All the while he was doing this, the bus continued going across the bridge, remaining in its own lane.
Police were able to board the driverless bus before bringing it to a stop. It was then that police employed a self defense police TASER gun on the driver. He was then taken away into police custody without further incident.
In this situation it was believed that alcohol was a contributing factor to the man’s behavior. However, while that may have been the case it was important for police to bring the situation under control in a relatively short period of time before others come into harm’s way.
In order to produce the positive results that they were able to achieve police first needed to have access to a device that had the ability to subdue a target without the fear of harming them in the process.
While a traditional firearm may have subdued a person, it would have also harmed them with potential fatal results. In this day and age, police departments need to rest assured that what they are using will aid them in all situations.
The only tools on the market that achieve this are self defense stunning tools which are being introduced into police departments on a regular basis simply because police officials are realizing the benefits that they produce.
Police officers are there to do a job and if someone acts in such a way that is deemed dangerous, as was the case with the bus driver, then it is vital that they assess the situation and put into practice the necessary steps that will ensure the safety of all those concerned.
