Prosecutor's Officer in Middlesex County to Give Out TASERS
According to a release from the prosecutor’s office, as much as $72,500 will be available to purchase the self defense devices. The decision came after N.J. Attorney General Paula Dow gave the go ahead for police officers who have successfully completed their TASER International training to employ the devices.
Those who have been properly trained will now have the means to protect the public with a device that has been designed for maximum safety.
By providing funds for the purchase of TASERS it is hoped that police departments will understand the benefits of them, which in turn will see them buying more as they train more officers in the use of them.
The New Brunswick Police Department will be accepting a self defense unit from the prosector’s office.
By equipping officers with a device that is non-lethal they won’t have to rely upon the use of deadly force. While not all situations may require the use of the device, simply knowing it is there will present an advantage to the officer and the public.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see police with a wide range of self defense devices on hand. After all, with each situation they find themselves in they are required to assess what is going on to determine the best course of action.
It’s not an easy job, but by having the necessary help nearby means that the role of an officer is somewhat alleviated. Anything that can help, that ultimately does the same job of apprehending a person that a gun would, but without the risk factor involved, can only be a good thing for the public and the officer’s protection.
In times of need we all require a helping hand that makes it easy to achieve the goals that we want in life. With the purchase of 29 TASERS this means that police now have the means to do their jobs effectively without worrying about the repercussions that a firearm would produce.
