Police Use TASER on Fleeing Man who Crashes into Pittsburg Soundwall
The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, illegal drugs and stolen property. He was also arrested for violating parole and resisting arrest.
Deputies spotted a stolen Lexus SUV around 5.35 a.m. on eastbound Highway 4 and tried to pull it over. However, the SUV took the off-ramp where it tried to elude police. Three miles later, the driver was located after he crashed into a soundwall at Dover Way in Pittsburg.
After the suspect resisted the police dog, a police self defense TASER was employed on him.
With the use of the police unit they were able to effectively bring the suspect under control, thus preventing him from further harming himself and from trying to escape from police again. It is necessary for police to have access to a wide range of self defense tools which they can employ at a moment’s notice when required.
In each situation an officer doesn’t know what they may come across, which is why it’s necessary for them to have a means of protecting themselves and the public through the use of a range of devices.
Since the introduction of TASER weapons police departments have come to realize the benefits associated with them. Not only are they non-lethal, but they are easy to use as well. Once police have gone through the required training into the use of them, they are then permitted to use them if needed when on duty.
While not all situations will call for the employment of these tools, simply knowing that they are available and ready to use should the situation call for it, means that police now have the means of providing greater protection.
In order to gain control of a situation at a moment’s notice it is vital that officers have a unit they can rely upon to achieve this. The only way they can do that without worrying about the repercussions that a firearm would otherwise produce is through the use of a TASER device.
