Wilmette Police Continue Search for Burglars
Wilmette police are still searching for thieves after a home was broken into last week. According to police, jewelry and electronic equipment were stolen from the residence.
On November 7th between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., an intruder broke into a home where jewelry and electronics were taken. According to reports, the suspects gained entry by opening a window to the laundry room.
Unfortunately, the break-in was not immediately obvious to the homeowners as nothing appeared to be disturbed. Upon leaving the residence the thieves then closed the window and shut the blind.
Police also say that they burglar alarm system in place was only activated for the doors.
In this instance, when a home has a burglar alarm installed they should make sure that it is connected to all access points in the home. This way if a thief does manage to gain entry they will instantly trip the alarm, thus alerting officials to the break-in.
