Stun Gun Plan for All Police Cars in London Considered
A police commissioner in London has called for police response officers to have stun guns on them at all times. The request comes after four of his officers were stabbed over the weekend.
Plans considered by Scotland Yard chiefs could see the reduction in violent crime in the city.
After speaking on LBC radio’s Nick Ferrari show, the police commissioner said that he would sanction greater use of the devices. He went on to say that the unit should be available when it’s needed the most and as an alternative to the use of firearms.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find police in many parts of the world equipped with self defense devices such as stun guns. To have them on them means that they have a wide range of tools to use depending on the situation at hand.
Of course, not all police departments have these tools, nor are all police officers trained in the use of them. In order to get the best use out of these devices there should be more officers trained in them and more police departments which have them on hand.
This way the use of a firearm won’t be relied upon as the only tool to use. Not every situation is the same and the use of a firearm is not required in all circumstances. Such use of brute force could ultimately produce more harmful results than needed.
As a result of this, there are police departments turning their attention to the use of stun guns as the perfect alternative and as the ideal way of maintaining everyones safety.
In this day and age with innovative technology available we should see the use of it being taken advantage of if the results are more beneficial to those concerned. Not only does the use of this tool reduce the harm inflicted upon the person targeted, but it also means that officers don’t have to come into contact with the person targeted, thus eliminating the harm to them as well.
If police have access to these devices inside their police cars they can better protect themselves from harm and can avoid situations that occurred over the weekend, with the stabbing of four police officers.
By doing so all those concerned are able to avoid unnecessary harm and can continue their jobs as they are supposed to knowing that a protective device is ready to help them out should they need it.
