BP Agent Apprehends Drugs Smuggler with TASER
The agent suspected that a vehicle might be carrying narcotics and as a result attempted to make a traffic stop in Nogales, however instead of stopping the driver sped up. During the incident the man was then reported to have jumped from the moving vehicle.
The agent then chased the man on foot, but as the agent moved in, the man turned toward the agent whilst reaching inside his jacket. When the suspect refused to get on the ground the agent employed the self defense device on him.
A search of the man found that a knife was inside the man’s jacket and 243 pounds of pot was located in the vehicle.
In this situation the use of the self defense device proved essential at preventing the man from harming the agent, seeing as he was armed with a knife. In order to prevent any harm coming to the suspect the use of a TASER device was required.
Such results would not have been guaranteed if a firearm had been used. Not only that, but if the agent didn’t have access to the device then protection would have been limited which may have resulted in harm coming to them if the suspect had managed to use his knife.
Nowadays, most police departments have access to a wide range of self defense tools for added police and public protection. Since they were first introduced the results provided from them show that they are effective at producing the results required. This would not be the case with other weapons.
Not only that, but depending on the situation an officer finds themselves in they can rest assured that they have a means of protection on hand should they need it at a moment’s notice. After all, having a powerful device on hand that is aimed at protecting those concerned without harming them is not something that becomes available everyday.
This is why they have become a much relied upon form of self defense in police departments and households in the United States and abroad.
