Increase in Home Burglaries Prompts Action from Residents
Most of the victims’ homes have been targeted during the day. In one burglary the homeowner and her daughter returned home after doing their Christmas shopping to find a jewelry box lying empty in the living room.
After inspecting the master bedroom it was found completely ransacked. Other items stolen included an expensive Nikon camera and lenses, a handgun and gun safe and small electronics. The items were then stuffed inside pillow cases before thieves left undetected by neighbors.
As a result of the incident, the homeowner then sent an email around telling neighbors to remain alert and to lock their windows and doors. After it spread quickly throughout the town, she received a call from the mayor who explained that he was meeting with the police department to discuss the break-ins.
On the day of the burglary, police also received reports of three other incidents.
In order for homeowners to protect themselves and to prevent their homes from becoming targets of thieves they should take extra precautions. There are several ways that this can be achieved, one of which is through the installation of a good security alarm.
This will be extremely beneficial as it means that even when a homeowner is away from their home during the day they can rest assured that their home is guarded. No homeowner wants their property to be burglarized, but unfortunately it is something that is increasing across the country and abroad.
Consequently, more homeowners need to think of how they can improve the situation. If, however, they should be at home or return home to find an intruder in their home then they should have a device on hand that will protect them when they need it the most.
One way of achieving this is through the use of mace spray. Small and lightweight it is easy to use and safe as well. So, even though a homeowner may target a thief with a powerful burst of spray they can rest assured that what they are using won’t harm the suspect targeted, but will only temporarily subdue them long enough for the homeowner to call for police assistance.
