Family Return from Holiday to Find Home Ransacked and Car Stolen

Des Moines Police say that after a family returned home from a holiday they discovered that their home had been broken into.

The family in question have spent the last 24 hours cleaning their house up after thieves broke into their home by kicking in the back door of the family’s home. According to reports, by the state of the house it seems as though those involved were there for quite some time.

The thief or thieves managed to get away with two computers, cash, the family’s Lexus and jewelry. The suspects managed to drive the car away without anyone noticing a thing. The police report went on to say that residents heard a bang, but apparently a noise that is heard all the time didn’t produce any suspicion.

Police say that before heading out of town for the holidays, take the time to ask a neighbor to look out for your property. Nowadays, there are many police departments which also have a vacation watch list. This is when police will check on homeowners’ property when they are away, thus helping to put the minds of those at rest when they are not around.
