Whitley Woman Injured in Dog Attack

A woman from Whitley received hospital treatment after receiving injuries during an incident that saw her trying to help her Labrador who was being attacked by two other dogs.

Around 10 a.m. on Sunday, the lady was walking her dog when the dogs, described as English Bulldogs, Mastiffs and Staffordshire Bull Terriers, without collars and off the lead, ran towards them and attacked her dog.

When she attempted to pull her dog away, one of the terriers turned its attention to her and as a result bit her arm, hand and ankle. When the lady shouted for assistance, the woman was helped by a neighbor who hit the attacking dog with a stick, causing them both to run away.

Her pet dog was then taken to a vet where she received a stitch on her right hand. Neither the neighbor or the victim had previously seen the dogs before and don’t know who they belong to.

Due to the rise in dog attacks it is now a case for dog owners to purchase a form of protection that they can rely upon when they need it the most. One way that they are achieving this is through the purchase of animal repellents.
