Thieves Steal Thousands of Dollars in Collectible Coins
Police were called to the scene of the crime around 8 p.m. where they found the homeowner waiting outside with a neighbor. According to reports, the woman had returned home to discover that her back door had been broken. She also reported that the house had not been ransacked, but that the thief had gained access to the storage room where the coins were kept.
The coins stolen included 7,000 1-ounce 2011 American Eagle silver coins in plastic sleeves, 12 bags of 1920-1963 silver coins at 5, 10 and 25 cents, 20 5-pound bars of silver, 15 South Africa Krugerrant, 20 10-pound bars of silver, 30 American Gold Eagles with Canadian maple leaves, 10-ounce and 6-ounce bars of silver with Johnson Matthey and Engelhard stamps in addition to $80,000 in cash.
Nowadays, it seems that as more burglaries are reported more measures need to be put into place that will ensure the safety of residents and what is rightfully theirs. Thankfully there are many ways in which homeowners can achieve this.
One way of deterring thieves is by installing a good security alarm system, which will act as a deterrent to would-be thieves. Not only that, but those who do target a home that has a security alarm attached will instantly attract unwanted attention when the alarm sounds.
Not only are security alarms a good measure to have in place, but for residents who require added safety inside their homes they are now turning their attention to the use of a stun baton. This self defense tool has become the perfect alternative for those who want the added protection, but without having to resort to brute force in order to achieve this.
Stunning tools such as this are safe to employ, but are powerful devices when it comes to deploying them on those targeted. Because of this, police departments have also provided police with them during their working day. Simply knowing such a powerful device is on hand means that people who use them for their safety can rest assured that what they are using is safe to do so and will keep them safe from harm.
