Police Use Pepper Spray on Three Men Involved in Gold Coast Nightclub Brawl
Around 9 p.m. three men attacked two male staff members outside the Surfers Paradise nightclub.
When police arrived on the scene they were forced to employ pepper spray to break up the fight. A 42-year-old man and a 28-year-old man received head injuries, but were not life threatening, according to police reports.
Two 29-year-old men and a 27-year-old man were charged with two counts of assault, one count of affray each, obstructing police and attempt to enter licensed premises when refused.
In this day and age, it is now a common sight to see police provided with an array of self defense tools at their disposal. When police are called to a scene that requires police attention they may not have all the facts available to them, as to what to expect.
As a result of this, it’s important for police to know that what they have on hand will give them the protection that they require should they need it. Not only that, but the use of self defense tools also means that they can better protect those they are targeting and any others that may be involved or who are in proximity of the situation.
Unlike a traditional firearm, pepper spray does not harm those targeted. This is why it has become such a popular tool for people to employ for their safety. Furthermore, because it is a compact device members of the public and police can easily carry it around with them regardless of where they are.
This means that whenever they feel themselves being threatened they can instantly employ the spray canister which will deliver instant results. Even though it may be a small device to hold, it can still pack a powerful punch at the person targeted when required, thus eliminating the need for brute force or unnecessary contact to come into play.
