Police Use TASER Gun on Drunken Knifeman
The 58-year-old suspect from Radford, Coventry, was apprehended by the self defense device after he refused to put the knife down.
Coventry Crown Court heard how the suspect flipped out after drinking alcohol to stop the pain of the osteoarthritis in his knees. As a result of his drinking he started a row with his partner.
During the incident he is reported to have also headbutted and punched his partner’s son-in-law.
With the use of the police self defense device, police were able to apprehend the man before any harm came to those involved. Nowadays, there are more police departments turning their attention to these tools as they provide the ideal protective measures compared to other weapons.
When police are called to a situation they are not completely sure what they may find at the scene, which is why it’s important for them to have a number of devices on hand that will defend them when they require it the most.
Not all situations demand brute force, which was certainly the case in this situation. Instead of using a firearm, which could have delivered more harm than good, police deemed it necessary to use a TASER gun instead.
This then helped them to gain control of the situation in a timely manner instead of having to worry about the repercussions involved that other weapons would cause.
Simply knowing that police have the means of defense on them means that members of the public can rest assured that what they are using is safe for all those concerned, but is still powerful enough to successfully apprehend a suspect without any harm coming to them.
It’s not every day that such a device is made available for the public and police protection, which is another reason why this tool has become the perfect alternative to improving a person’s defense without harming them in the process. Powerful and easy to use, this non-lethal self defense device delivers the results the people want.
