Home Burglaries Rise in Ebbw Vale

Homes in Ebbw Vale, Wales have been targeted by more home burglaries than any other in the area, after new figures were revealed today. More than 600 homes have been targeted by intruders.

Data from the Freedom of Information Act demonstrates that Gwent Police were alerted to 621 home burglaries in the area in two years since October 2009, with over a third centered in the region of Ebbw Vale.

The majority of break-ins took place after police warned residents that within five months of policing between June and October in 2011, 72% of home burglaries took place in homes that were locked and secured.

Burglaries in Ebbw Vale have increased compared to other locations. In the year from October 2009, the town has been hit by thieves 239 times with 125 of those taking place in 2010.
