Teenage Girl Maintains Calm during Home Burglary

A 14-year-old girl was able to keep her cool despite the fact that two thieves had broken into her home in California. As a result of her decisive actions she called 911 which saw the burglars arrested by police.The high school freshman was home alone when she heard a stranger pound on the door. When she didn’t answer, she soon heard the door break open. At first she believed that she was hearing things and didn’t believe it at first.

The next thing she did was go into her bedroom where she phoned police from her cellphone, hiding behind a futon.

As the thieves ransacked the home, she feared that they would discover her when they entered the room she was in. Among the items stolen included electronics and jewelry.

As the thieves were leaving police arrived on the scene. This then led police on a high-speed chase on three freeways before they came to a stop after a crash. Both of the suspects were then arrested.

Police were able to recover the family’s stolen property from the suspects’ van where they were able to find evidence that linked them to a second home burglary.

With the quick action of the teenage girl, police were able to get to the home just as the thieves were leaving, which saw police giving chase to reclaim the stolen property. In this day and age with the amount of home burglaries on the rise, it’s important for homeowners to take the necessary steps that will ensure their safety from thieves.
