Stun Gun Employed on Student in Columbus

Police employed a self defense stun gun on a Columbus student after it was reported that he became disruptive and was battling police.

School officials at Columbus East High School had initially contacted the 17-year-old boy’s mother; however, before she arrived police reports say that the teenager shoved an officer and reached for the officer’s firearm.

With the use of the self defense device, police were able to effectively bring the disruptive teenager under control before he had the chance to harm himself and the officers involved.

In this day and age, it’s important for police to know that they have access to a wide range of self defense tools for their protection and the public’s. This means that when police find themselves in a situation they have an alternative and far safer option compared to the use of a firearm.

Since the introduction of stun guns in the police force there has been a remarkable decline in the number of injuries inflicted on an individual, whether that person is an officer or a suspect that has been targeted.
