Dog Attack Victim in a Critical State
A three-year-old boy from Ashburton who was bitten in the throat by a dog is in a critical, but stable condition in Christchurch Hospital. After undergoing surgery at the hospital, he remains in intensive care.
The dog in question – a Doberman Staffordshire bull terrier cross – attacked the boy when the boy went to put chocolate in his mouth while at a relatives house.
The dog has no previous history of attacking people and belonged to a family member. After the owner’s consent the dog was later put down. Even though the dog was not under the dangerous dog breed category, if dogs are not associated with young children, there is a risk that something might happen.
In order to prevent such an incident from taking place there are ways in which people can better protect themselves and their family members with a range of self defense tools on offer. One such device that many people are turning their attention towards are animal repellents.
These devices are safe to use and won’t harm the animal targeted, but are still powerful enough to stop the dog or another animal in question from attacking a person. In this day and age there seems to be a large number of animal attacks being reported, but many people who are attacked are not protected.
This may be because they don’t know how to protect themselves or they are not aware of what devices they can use that will assist in such a situation. Nowadays, with the introduction of non-lethal weapons it is now possible to protect yourself without having to worry about the repercussions of doing so, unlike if a traditional weapon was used instead.
Your objective is not to harm the animal, but to stop or prevent the animal from attacking you. During one stage this would not have been easy, but today that is a completely different matter. As a result, it’s not surprising that so many members of the public are turning their attention to animal repellents because they know they are effective and safe to use as well.
Protecting yourself from an aggressive animal doesn’t mean you have to resort to harming them in the process. Essentially, you want to remove yourself from a situation that has the potential to escalate, but are stopping such a situation from occurring. This you can achieve with the help from your self defense spray canister.
