SWAT Members Employ Mace Spray on Man Hiding in Attic
Police arrested a man they say eluded them when he stole a Ford pickup and then hid in an attic. It was only when SWAT team members arrived on the scene and employed mace spray into the attic space that they could arrest the man.
The man in question celebrated his 39th birthday in jail, where he was being held on a parole violation.
Police have also arrested a 20-year-old man who was the passenger in the stolen pickup. At 8:15 p.m., Commerce City police say that they located the pickup near a home. When police approached the vehicle, police report that the driver sped away from them and escaped.
At 9 p.m., police spotted the pickup as it was stopping at the same address that they had previously spotted it at. Two men then jumped out of the pickup and ran into a house. As a result of their actions SWAT team members were called to the address.
Even though several people walked out of the house peacefully one man who was hiding in the attic didn’t respond to the police requests to leave. Because of this, mace spray was then sprayed into the attic space, which soon saw the man giving himself up to authorities.
In this day and age, it is important for police to have access to a wide range of self defense devices that they can rely upon in a moment’s notice. In this situation, the self defense spray canister provided essential in apprehending a man who was trying to avoid police arrest.
With the use of such a device police can rest assured that what they are using is safe to use and won’t harm the person targeted. Not only that, but it also eliminates the need for brute force, which also means that harm between an officer and the person they are targeting won’t occur.
It’s not everyday that such a device becomes available for the protection of the public or the police who require such assistance while on duty. However, since mace spray is a self defense tool that is available it is no wonder that it has become such a popular device for people to turn their attention to.
Simply knowing that it is on hand to give assistance at the press of a button means that officers and the public can remain confident that they have the means of protecting themselves wherever they are.
