In North Seattle, two young women, a man and a teenage girl were arrested after they were found to be connected with a number of stun gun attacks on women in the area.
Police says that the attacks which happened between May 17 and 24 were targeted at women who were alone, while distracted by taking items from their car.
The arrested suspects aged 17, 21, 22, and 25 attacked women in their 50s and 60s, where they stunned their victims and stole their purses and any other items they believed to be of value before then making their quick escape in a nearby waiting car.
Attacks of this sort are unfortunately not uncommon. While many of us rely on the safety of stun gun devices when it comes to our protection, there are countless more people in this world who are willing to abuse their power in a bid to steal from other people that cause harm to those who don’t require their use.
Not only that, but the four individuals who were arrested, victimized elderly women, one of whom used a cane for assistance. So not only are they stealing women’s purses and money, but they are also targeting women who may not be able to defend themselves when alone.
Unfortunately it’s a sad world we live in when people feel that they have to resort to devices such as a stun gun that have been designed with safety in mind, in order to get what they want.
Instead of attacking someone’s grandmother, why not get a job instead. The time and effort that it ultimately put into robbing someone could instead be utilized through honest working that will see more monetary benefits than from a stolen purse. Just think, the next time someone decides to target a elderly woman for her purse, stop and consider, because that could just as easily be your own grandmother your targeting.
In the end, it won’t be a happy ending for those involved; you’ll eventually get caught and will end up spending time in prison for the acts you committed. Plus because of these four suspects, the name of self defense devices will only be tarnished, and that’s not what we want, considering the good that many of these tools have achieved because of their effectiveness in times of need.

A naked man who was found to be high off of PCP was taken down by police officers by a TASER device four times after police were called to the scene that found a man only wearing his sneakers running alongside traffic.
Police officers at the scene found that the man in question was being aggressive as he made his way to police cars yelling at them and refusing orders. When the man charged toward officers, one of them raised his TASER weapon to deter the man from continuing. However when the man yelled at police again, the office deployed his device striking the man in the stomach.
Officers who receive training with self defense devices such as these know that an individual who is high may not feel the same disabling effects that another person not high would. Because of this the man in question was able to quickly regain himself which saw him then spinning around, while three other officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, only to see him jump to his feet while pulling out the TASER device darts.
Officers at the scene then reactivated their devices, while additional officers tried to handcuff the man who started acting violently towards them.
In the end it took officers two more tries before they were successful enough to apprehend the man and bring him into custody.
As a result of the assistance from the officers self defense device they were able to successfully stop a man who was proving not only a threat to himself, but also to traffic. While he wasn’t affected by the device when it was first utilized, officers knew that sooner or later the man in question would be overcome by the self defense device, providing them the opportunity of handcuffing the man.
All in all a situation that could have taken a turn for the worst was soon put to rights. The man in question was soon brought to hospital where he was to be treated for wounds that were on his head and right shoulder. How he received these marks is not known, and apart from those wounds he received no other.

The use of a can of pepper spray came to the rescue for a store clerk, after a man tried to rob a convenience store on Sunday night.
When the masked man entered the store demanding money from the clerk, instead of seeing his wishes complied with, he was met with the clerk’s handy self defense device, which saw the masked man’s attempts at robbery thwarted.
Unfortunately, the man in question, who was chased from the store by several customers, managed to escape. And yet, the only person who suffered any injury was the masked robber himself.
These days, it’s not an uncommon sight to read reports in newspapers or hear on TV about the latest store robbery; and in most cases the suspects who target these places, which they consider easy, usually get away with what they want. Thankfully though in this case, not only did the targeted store not lose any of its money, or suffer any harm, but the only one who suffered was the robber.
Furthermore, because of the outcome from this particular incident, it helps to stop potential robbers from targeting convenience stores, as they will more than likely think that every store clerk will have some sort of self defense device, such as pepper spray, safely tucked behind their counter hidden away from view.
Not only that, but it will be a long time before anyone tries to make a repeat of targeting this convenience store, especially the man who failed, as this event will no doubt leave a deep impression on him for a long time to come.
But it’s all thanks to the help of the pepper spray employed that peoples lives were saved from what could have potentially turned into something more dangerous if the masked man didn’t receive the money he wanted, and there was no personal protection device around to help those in need.
And yet, with the quick thinking of the store clerk, and the effectiveness of the canister spray, the situation was quickly disabled that ended on a good note for those involved who were unfortunately targeted.

Four years ago San Antonio police officers first began carrying TASER devices on them during their working hours on the streets, and a police chief believes it’s all thanks to these self defense weapons that have helped to save many lives.
Not only that, but the police chief credits the utilization of these devices with decreasing the amount of injuries that a police officer would incur in physical confrontations with a suspect, in addition to reducing the harm to the suspect.
In 2006, when the TASER weapons first hit the streets in San Antonio there were only 80; in 2007 that number raised to 144; in 2008 it increased to 189; and in 2009 there were 237 self defense devices assigned to police officers in the department.
Before an officer is allowed to carry such a device they must first undergo extensive training. The manufacturer of these devices deems that only eight hours is required before a protection weapon can be given to an officer; however the police department requires that its officers complete 16 hours of training, plus an extra 40 hours of Crisis Intervention training before they are completely qualified to handle a TASER device.
As a result of the thorough training involved, the police chief in San Antonio believes that these devices are extremely effective; furthermore it prepares an officer when they are confronted with individuals who may be of a mental state or are armed. The only time it is forbidden for an officer to operate a device on a person is when that person is high and has been taking drugs, as the shock of the device could prove life threatening. During the training police officers know what to look out for when dealing with an individual who may have taken drugs.
Because of the success that these TASER weapons have produced in the San Antonio department, and their effectiveness, the police chief is calling for all his officers to eventually be equipped with them, which will better their chances at reducing the amount of harm caused to an officer and a suspect when an impact weapon is employed instead.

A riot in Clairton saw 11 assisting police departments, 25 police officers and two dogs working together in order to get the situation under control. Some police officers at the scene also utilized pepper spray on many of the 200 people involved in the riot.
Once police arrived on the scene around 3 a.m., they declared the fight a riot which enabled them to enforce laws that would permit them to arrest anybody who didn’t leave the scene. As a result, 40 minutes later, the riot was finally cleared up which saw the arrest of four people.
While pepper spray wasn’t the only factor involved that helped put an end to the riot, it did facilitate police officers who were at the scene who were able to disable rioters who were refusing to leave the area. Because of this officers found that they were able to get the situation under control in a relatively short amount of time that could have gone on much longer if the self defense device wasn’t available.
Pepper spray, which contains Oleoresin Capsicum (OC), is a device that affects an individual’s senses quickly, which proves that it’s an effective device at hindering offenders. The burning sensation that is produced forces a person into closing their eyes. As a result of this burning sensation, an officer is delivered with plenty of time to remove the individual, thus eliminating a situation from escalating any higher.
Not only that, but these self defense devices can be sprayed from as little as six feet away, which means that officers don’t need to be within proximity to an offender to achieve maximum results. All that is required is that they aim for the nose, mouth or eyes, as these areas have proven to be the most effective at stopping someone.
However, the effects of pepper spray don’t last long, and while the burning sensation is unpleasant and disorientating for the person affected, no harm is produced as a result; which is why many police officers are often found carry these pepper spray devices around with them.
No one wants to get sprayed by such a device, but when you do it certainly won’t be something that you want to experience again.

We’ve all heard stories about never messing with restaurant staff when it comes to your food. Now however the tables have switched, after two customers took it upon themselves to chase a Wendy’s employee with a stun gun device after he got their order wrong.
The incident which happened in Daytona Beach certainly created a stir of surprise among the people present. The unfortunate guy who was working the window managed to avoid contact with the stun gun; however the two women involved soon jumped out of the car and began chasing the employee around the kitchen.
It was only when a manager threatened to call the police did the two women involved decide to leave. One of the women then called that same manager to complain about the service at the restaurant and that the only reason they chased the Wendy’s employee with their stun gun was because he threatened them, claiming that the whole incident was in self defense.
However it wasn’t long before local police caught up with the two women where they were both charged with aggravated assault.
When it comes to self defense devices such as stun guns, while they are often bought in order to increase a person’s self defense, they can also be utilized in an abusive manner, which ultimately causes harm to innocent people who may not require their use.
Even though the women in question claim that they were using the stun gun because they feared for their safety, why bother using it and simply drive away instead. Unfortunately, the women decided to bring about unnecessary harm to a Wendy’s employee simply because he got their food order wrong.
While this of course is unacceptable, there are other ways to tell someone that they’ve given you the wrong food order.
Thankfully, these two women were a rare occurrence. Of course, not everyone goes around utilizing their self defense weapons on people who don’t require it, and for this we should be thankful. There is enough going on in this world without having to worry about every person you pass on the street, believing they could just as easily stun you with their stun gun.

Police officers in Orlando Florida were called to assist with the arrest of Boston Celtics guard Marquis Daniels’ stepfather during a game against Orlando Magic.
Officers who responded to a disturbance during the second half of the game were confronted with the 55-year-old man in question who resisted arrest. When officers tried to escort the man from the area, he refused.
In the end the Celtic guard’s stepfather was eventually removed by police, however he kept his hands under his shirt in a bid to avoid handcuffs being placed on him. As a result of this a police officer then stunned the Celtic guard’s stepfather with his stun gun device for five seconds.
While the device utilized was able to assist officers at handcuffing the man, it’s also the latest incident in recent weeks to join stories of police involvement where self defense devices such as TASER weapons and stun guns have been operated on members of the public during a sporting event.
Even though the use of the device proved to be effective in the situation, it still raises the question of when is it acceptable to use a self defense device for protection and when not to. Of course the main reason officers find themselves employing the device that has become a constant companion for them, is so that they can regain control of a situation without incurring any unnecessary harm to other people who may be around or involved.
Not only that, but while police officers will no doubt receive comments about their use, they are ultimately there so that they can protect individuals. Furthermore, while the experience of a jolt from a stun gun isn’t a pleasant experience to go through, it doesn’t last long and doesn’t inflict lasting damage when it is used on an individual for a few seconds. After all that’s all that it takes when a police officer needs to gain control of a circumstance in a matter of seconds.
While stun guns are often used in situations that prove to be more life threatening, it won’t be long before another incident finds an individual stunned by such a device at another sporting event bringing police officers use of them into question once again.

Nowadays it’s not just adults and senior citizens who require personal protection; in most cases it’s also teenagers. Unfortunately in the U.S., it’s illegal to carry a personal protection device such as a stun gun or TASER device under the age of 18.
While this is the case, teenagers are still found carrying what is deemed a concealed weapon, and in some instances on school grounds. However the situated reported found that a high school student at a Virginia school was in fact 18-years-old, and yet was arrested after a stun gun was found in her possession.
Even though the police reported that no attempt had been made to operate the self defense device and no harm had been made to other students, the high school student was charged, but later released. While safety is a key issue in every school when it comes to the welfare of its students and teachers, there will be certain instances when students feel that their safety is only safe when their safety is in their own hands and not someone else.
Of course, there’s also the possibility of individuals entering a school with the intent to cause harm to the students and teachers inside. In situations such as these if a student has a safety device such as a stun gun they won’t feel victimized; instead their personal safety will increase.
Unfortunately, while this may be the mindset of some individuals, the mindset of others will be different; and those individuals may intend to harm their fellow school mates by abusing the use of safety weapons. Because of this, while the 18-year-old may not have harmed anyone, someone else could have if they possessed a stun gun device of their own.
Which is why when it comes to schools, no student is allowed to carrying any form of weapon, regardless of the fact that it may be intended for safety reasons. Found in the wrong hands and that same device could just as easily be utilized to cause harm to other individuals in a bid to terrorize the school or to seek revenge for a petty argument.

Police officers across the globe are called out to assist in many situations in a bid to reduce tension in an area and to protect innocent lives. In some cases the situations that officers find themselves in require fast thinking and effective results.
A case in Shelbyville, Indiana which certainly demanded quick thinking and effective results, found officers called out to confront a man who had doused himself in gasoline in an attempt to set himself on fire.
Once the officers had assessed the situation, and it became clear the individual wasn’t going to listen to police orders when he tried to use his lighter in a bid to set his clothes on fire, a police officer operated a TASER device on the suicidal man. Unfortunately the first shot wasn’t effective, which called for a second officer to operate his device in order to gain control of the individual.
In the end it took officers four times to successfully disable the man, where they then brought him to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for his burn injuries. While he suffered burn injuries, he didn’t suffer any injuries from the TASER weapons used on him.
An individual who is not only intoxicated, but also suicidal whereby they attempt to set themselves on fire is a situation that most officers don’t find themselves confronted with on a daily basis. However, these instances require an officer to be quick on his feet in order to achieve effective results that produce little harm to the people involved.
Even though the fire man in question may have suffered from burn injuries, his life was subsequently saved by the operation of a TASER device; without such a self defense weapon it would have taken the officers involved a longer time at controlling the situation. Not only that, but the utilization of a traditional gun wouldn’t have been much use in a situation such as this.
Furthermore, the personal protection device used was able to assist in a situation by producing the necessary results in a quick amount of time that may not have been achieved otherwise.
