I have heard of people doing strange things, but this is one of the strangest things I've ever heard. I am pretty sure that the police who were on the scene felt the same way and didn't really want to use force. But it just so happened that the man involved in this story did more than just get naked and act crazy. He became violent and the police had no choice but to use a TASER on him.
Who knows why the man did it, but for some reason he decided to strip off all of his clothes in public. Once he was naked, he started screaming out claims that he was the sun and the moon. He didn't stop there though. He took his hi-jinks to a new level and started jumping on cars. By this point, the police were on their way.
When they showed up, the man was headed toward a flooded meadow. The water was cold, but he jumped in anyway and started running toward an orphanage. As he was on his way the police and bystanders were calling out to him and trying to convince him to stop his madness. Eventually, he started heading back to dry land. But when he got to dry land, the police told him that they were going to have to arrest him and he became irate. He started to become violent, so the police used a TASER on him.
Even though the man was acting strangely, if he would have submitted to the police when they tried to arrest him he would have avoided the pain of being stunned. Perhaps in the future he will think twice about being naked in public…or at least think twice about fighting the police.

Some people think that school resource officers should carry a stun gun and some people think they shouldn't. Is it too extreme or are our schools dangerous enough to justify them? I don't know if I can answer that, but I do know that when one was used to stop a couple fights in a New York school recently.
It was the end of a school day and everything had been going fine. Everyone thought they were going to get to leave for the day when they got a rude awakening. A fight broke out between several girls and at the same time, another fight broke out between two boys. The whole event started to escalate into a very large disturbance that threatened to get way out of control.
The resource officer showed up with several teachers. They tried to break up the fights but were having a hard time. That is when the officer pulled out his stun gun and warned the students that if they didn't stop fighting he would be forced to start shocking them. Thankfully, he didn't need to use it because the fighting stopped almost immediately.
Three of the girls were arrested for fighting and one boy was arrested for a charge of menacing. The officer is going to review the school surveillance camera tapes and may make other arrests if the tapes reveal that others were being troublemakers.
Schools are incredibly violent places these days. I know there are times when officers have discharged their stun guns on students, but this time they didn't need to. If only that were the case every time there was a disturbance, keeping the peace would be a lot easier.

In order for candidates to join the police force they have to go through rigorous training. This training includes being subjected to pepper spray in the face and being shocked by a TASER stun gun. They do this so that they know what these things feel like so that they can more accurately determine when to use these tools. Each officer that has been subjected to these weapons can attest to how painful they are. So, why would police officers offer to be shocked intentionally when it isn't required?
One police department in Wisconsin has been trying to raise money for the Special Olympics. One after one they have lined up to take a high voltage jolt straight to their chest. Though the officers are in pain, they know it is for a good cause. Oddly enough, people have been very eager to contribute money to see these civil servants subject themselves to such pain.
There are some people in positions of authority who have questioned whether this sort of charitable act is proper. The biggest problem they have is that TASER International has advised that shots to the chest should be avoided if possible for health reasons. However, this didn't slow the number of officers stepping forward to contribute their bodies to charity.
I think that this is quite amazing. When people offer themselves for charity, especially when there are pain and health risks involved, they really show how bright the spirit of humanity can be. This story is very inspiring and it would be great if more people would be willing to contribute charitably to their communities. Electroshock devices don't need to be involved, but it would be great if people would get involved with other people who need help.

Maybe one day people will realize that violence isn't an appropriate response in a disagreement. Until then, police will have to use a stun gun if necessary in order to protect themselves and others. They recently had to do this when a man wouldn't stop his violent behavior after hurting his own girlfriend.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance. Apparently, a man had punched his girlfriend twice over an argument over something as petty as a cell phone. What is worse is that his girlfriend was holding her baby boy when he punched her. The police responded as quickly as they could.
When the police arrived, the man hadn't calmed down in the slightest. One of the police officers told the man that he was under arrest and then attempted to put handcuffs on him. The man refused to cooperate and elbowed the officer in his chest and then his stomach. The man turned around and struck the officer again on his right side.
It was at this point that the other officer intervened by using a stun gun to shock the man. After he fell to the ground, they placed the handcuffs on him. He was then examined by the firemen who had shown up. They concluded that he had suffered no permanent injury and he was then hauled off to jail.
It is hard to say what went through this man's head to make him think that striking his girlfriend would be a good idea, especially since she was holding a child. The man was booked on suspicion of domestic assault, child neglect, and third degree assault on an officer. Perhaps next time he is in a situation like that, he will think twice before swinging his fists and elbows.

It is sad how some people have no respect for the elderly. They take advantage of them and sometimes even abuse them. I can't imagine why anyone would want to harm an elderly person, but it happens. An officer in Sacramento, California actually saw a woman beating an elderly man and had to use a stun gun on her in order to arrest her.
No one really knows why the 44 year old woman attacked the 77 year old man. But when an officer happened to walk onto the scene, he saw the woman striking the man as he was trying to make his way to his vehicle. Appalled by what was happening, the officer told the woman to stop what she was doing.
The woman stopped hitting the elderly man, but turned her rage toward the police officer. She got in an aggressive stance and started to head toward him. Feeling threatened, the officer warned her that she should stop and get on the ground. She refused to comply with the officer, so he pulled out his stun gun and warned her that he would shock her if she didn't comply.
The woman proved to be stubborn and continued to come at the officer. So, he followed through with his warning and shocked her. He then put handcuffs on her and arrested her. She was charged with battery and resisting arrest. Thankfully, the elderly man wasn't seriously injured. When medics examined the violent woman, she was also found to be without serious injury.
It is a shame that anyone could do such a thing, but it happens all too often. Fortunately, the misdeed was stopped and no one was seriously hurt. Perhaps the woman will think twice in the future about attacking those who are weaker than her.

There are some people who have a hard time learning the lessons that life keeps trying to teach them. They keep finding themselves in trouble and sometimes the police have to get involved. Recently, a man in Reno, Nevada got himself into trouble again and the police had to use a TASER in order to arrest him.
The man had already been convicted of a felony and served his time. But when he got into a fierce argument with family members, he made a terrible mistake. He got a rifle and made a phone call to his mother-in-law and told her that he had shot his father-in-law. Needless to say, the police were called.
When they showed up at the ex-felon's house, he had gone outside with the rifle. They told him to drop it, but he refused to follow their order. Instead, he ran to his garage where he put down the weapon. When it seemed as though he was reaching for the rifle again, the police sprayed him with pepper spray, but it didn't have the effect that they desired.
In order to prevent him from grabbing the gun, they shot him with a 40mm less-than-lethal round. He fell to the ground, stunned. But when the police tried to complete the arrest, they had to use a TASER in order to fully stun him into submission. He was charged with having a firearm while intoxicated, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and with obstructing and resisting an officer.
While the father-in-law hadn't been harmed at all, there was plenty of sadness and fear generated. Hopefully, the man will discover the errors of his ways and mend the wounds he caused in his family. Only time will tell.

Family is one of the cornerstones of our society, but it is no secret that family members tend to have disagreements. What is shocking is when the disagreements lead to violence. The police recently got a call about a violent encounter between a man and his father and had to use a TASER in order to end the squabble.
When the police arrived on the scene, there had apparently been some pretty wild fighting. The son had blood on his face and clothes and the argument hadn't died down much at all. The police tried to talk the family members through the situation but the son wasn't about to let his ire die so easily.
Even though the police were standing there, the son lunged at his father and started to punch him. The police stepped in and tackled him to the ground to put a stop the attack. The son put up such a struggle that the police had to use a TASER in order to get him to comply. Amazingly, before the police could put the cuffs on him, he managed to pull one of the darts out of his skin.
It is fascinating to me that a son could become so outraged that he would strike his father. I know it happens quite often, but still, there have to be better ways of resolving problems. Domestic problems happen way too often and the police often end up arresting someone. Maybe the high voltage shock and a little time in jail will do the son some good. Maybe he'll realize that violence isn't always the answer.

Owning a TASER is a big responsibility. It has been proven to be a very effective weapon for self defense and has saved many lives. If you are to save your own life with it, then you should learn a few things about how best to use it. Reckless use of this powerful weapon could result in regret and possible injury to your loved ones. So take care and take time to learn a few basic principles.
There are two ways that a TASER can be used. It can be used from a distance by firing darts from a cartridge, or it can be used up close and personal. Using it from a distance is obviously the safest method of defense, but sometimes things get sticky and it can’t be loaded in time. That is why you must practice using it in both capacities.
The cartridges that are used can be a little pricy, but they are worth it. They use compressed nitrogen to propel the two barbed darts and they can hit a target up to fifteen feet away. If you can, buy a few extra cartridges so that you can practice shooting them. The gun itself usually has a built in laser scope to help aim, but gravity will take its toll on the darts. Therefore, if the target is further away you will need to aim a little higher.
These cartridges are perfect for protecting the home. If you were to hear the sound of a breaking window in the middle of the night, you could get your TASER and load a cartridge in it easily. However, you shouldn’t just try to take on a bad guy by yourself. Remember to call the police before you try to take them on, if you can.
If you are jogging in the park, you may not want to have a cartridge in. Though it is rare, the cartridge may discharge and shock you on accident. This usually happens if it gets too warm. If you must use the stun gun without the cartridge, then you should jab it into the bad guy’s neck or abdomen. Practice doing this and you will be better at executing the action.
Following these simple steps will help you protect yourself better and you will get more bang for your buck, so to speak.

For as long as there has been law enforcement there have been non-lethal ways to subdue people. These days one of the devices used to do this is called a stun gun and police aren’t the only ones who carry them. They are used by civilians who want protection from heartless thugs who would attack them. However, the ones that people use today are much different than the first models. In fact, the first version wasn’t even used on people.
If we go back to the late 1800’s we will see that this is when the first electric cattle prod was used. It used a very large battery and worked very well for directing cattle. This idea was simple and it had a lot of potential for development. Maybe it was just a couple of cowboys that were fooling around and zapping each other, or maybe it was just a stroke of genius, but someone got the idea that electricity could be used to get people to comply with orders.
In the 1920’s someone created a device for law enforcement that was based on this idea. However, it was very inconvenient and dangerous. It was a glove that could be worn by an officer and all they would have to do is grab the suspect in order to stun them. It had many wires connected to it that ran to a one pound battery that was to be strapped to the waist. Needless to say, it was never used by any law enforcement.
During the race riots of the 1960’s the police started to use cattle prods on people. They would zap people who were trying to start fights or pushing through barriers. It seemed to work pretty well, but the cattle prod would only deliver localized pain. Police needed something more powerful.
As the 1960’s turned into the 1970’s, the stun gun started to take its shape. A man named Jack Cover developed the first model of what would later become a TASER. Over the decades both the TASER and other stun guns evolved into sleeker models with higher charges of electricity. Now, people and law enforcers have convenient, non-lethal weapons for self defense and subduing criminals.
One disadvantage to carrying pepper spray on your keyring is that sometimes you can forget that you are carrying it. That is, you forget until you are attempting to board an aircraft and find yourself in possession of a weapon that is being confiscated.
Pepper spray is an item that will not pass through the security check at an airport and should be left at home to avoid unnecessary delays. Also, some airports have facilities for travelers to mail items that could not pass security to themselves (or another secure address) but even that is not foolproof. Items sometimes get lost in the mail, which isn’t much better than being confiscated.
Pepper spray may not be the most costly of self defense weapons, but your investment is lost if it is confiscated at the airport security check.
It is also not recommended to pack pepper spray in checked baggage as the fluctuations in pressure in the luggage hold (which is not pressurized like the airplane cabin) can cause pressurized canisters to explode. That is a danger to luggage handlers, who could be overwhelmed by several doses of pepper spray at once, and to fellow passengers, who may inhale some of the pepper spray that could escape into the main cabin of the aircraft.
If concerned about safety measures while on vacation, consider purchasing a small canister of pepper spray at your destination. Purchasing at your destination will also allow you to be aware of any restrictions on carrying pepper spray in that specific location.
